Special Olympics Equestrian Events
Scropton Horse Centre hosts occasional events for the East Midlands Special Olympics Equestrian Group
Special Olympics uses sport to empower children & adults with an intellectual disability to enhance their health and wellbeing. The East Midlands Equestrian group does this through horse riding activities.
Due to a short term problem with the provision of insurance for Special Olympics Equestrian Events by SOGB, we are unable to run a Special Olympics Competition this spring.
Instead we are going to run an RDA event for Special Olympics riders, to enable them to continue to enjoy the competition classes normally run under Special Olympics. We hope to be back to our usual Special Olympics Competitions in the autumn.
RDA North Midlands ‘Special Olympics Preparation’ Competition
Monday 27th April 2026
Keeping up with competing until East Midlands Special Olympics Equestrian Competitions restart
We are able to run an RDA event open only to riders who are registered participants of an RDA Group within the North Midlands Region, and who are also existing or new SOGB riders wishing to take part in Special Olympics classes. Riders must be entered through their RDA Group. Unfortunately, non‑RDA riders cannot be accepted
Riders can take part in either Working Trails or Dressage, or both if competition space allows. There will also be the chance for everyone to test their skills at Horse Care & Knowledge. Special Olympics Dressage tests are being used for this event and the working trails course is a variation of the RDA Countryside Challenge course.
